Wooden tools, targeted pressure, and a body that feels light again. Maderotherapy isn’t an ordinary treatment — it’s a mechanical approach that works where it counts.

Maderotherapy is a body massage technique that uses wooden instruments to work on blood circulation, lymphatic drainage, and skin quality. In practical terms, it’s a treatment that targets areas of fluid retention and cellulite to reshape body contours without any invasive procedures.

It’s not a miracle treatment. But when practised consistently and with proper technique, maderotherapy is a serious ally for anyone looking to improve their silhouette, reduce cellulite, and feel lighter in their body day to day.

What sets maderotherapy apart from other body treatments

What makes maderotherapy unique is its mechanical, targeted approach. The wooden rollers, boards, and cups allow for adjustable pressure to be applied to deep tissue. This isn’t a simple relaxation massage — every movement is designed to produce a specific effect on the tissue.

Wood is used for several reasons. It’s non-porous, hygienic, naturally firm, and allows for precise manipulation along the body’s curves. Unlike hands alone, the instruments reach a working depth that genuinely mobilizes adipose tissue and promotes fluid circulation in problem areas.

The three main benefits of maderotherapy

Lymphatic drainage

The lymphatic system is responsible for eliminating waste and toxins from the body. When it slows down or becomes congested, the body retains fluid, tissues swell, and the skin loses its glow.

Maderotherapy mechanically stimulates the lymph nodes and encourages lymph circulation throughout the body. Toxins are eliminated more efficiently, retention decreases, and the body regains a lightness that’s often felt after the very first sessions.

Cellulite reduction

Cellulite results from an accumulation of fat in adipose cells that compress blood vessels and create the dimpled texture we’re all familiar with. Maderotherapy works directly on these deposits by breaking up fat clusters and restarting local circulation in the affected tissues.

With regular sessions, skin texture improves progressively. It becomes smoother, firmer, and problem areas become more defined over time.

Body contouring

By working on the hips, thighs, stomach, and arms, maderotherapy helps redraw the body’s contours. This isn’t weight loss — it’s work on tissue distribution and skin quality. The silhouette looks more sculpted and defined, with no invasive intervention whatsoever.

Worth keeping in mind: Maderotherapy doesn’t replace an active lifestyle and a balanced diet. It amplifies them. It’s a precision tool, not a standalone solution.

What to tell us before your session

Maderotherapy is well-tolerated by the vast majority of people, but some conditions may require protocol adjustments or could be a contraindication.

Please inform your therapist if you have

Before your first session at Odysea, let your therapist know if you have varicose veins, a tendency to bruise easily, a recent surgery, a pregnancy, high blood pressure, or any ongoing medical condition or medication. This information allows us to adapt the treatment to your specific situation and ensure your safety throughout.

As for exercise on the day of your session, it’s best to take it easy. Avoid intense training that same day. A light walk or gentle stretching is plenty. A relaxed body responds better to the work of the instruments.

What you do after your session makes all the difference

The treatment starts in the clinic, but what comes next is up to you. What you do in the 24 to 48 hours following your session has a direct impact on the quality of your results.

01
Hydrate generously
Drinking 2 to 3 litres of water in the 24 to 48 hours after your session is non-negotiable. Maderotherapy mobilizes toxins and fluids in your body. Water is the vehicle that allows your lymphatic system to complete the elimination that started during the treatment. Without proper hydration, part of the work stays unfinished.

02
Move, but gently
A 20 to 30 minute walk after your session helps extend the drainage effects. Movement keeps lymphatic circulation active and supports the elimination process started in the clinic. That said, avoid intense effort if you’re feeling any sensitivity.

03
Eat clean
After a session, your body is in elimination mode. Favour lean proteins, fresh vegetables, and fruit. Avoid salty foods and processed products for 24 to 48 hours. Alcohol and caffeine should also be set aside during this window, as both dehydrate and slow down the lymphatic system.

04
Avoid intense heat
For 24 to 48 hours after your session, skip hot baths and saunas. Intense heat can disrupt tissue recovery and reduce the effects of the treatment. A lukewarm shower is more than enough.

Maintaining results between sessions

To get the most out of your results long-term, daily maintenance between sessions makes a real difference. Apply a moisturizing or anti-cellulite cream to the treated areas every day. You can also incorporate dry brushing or a gentle self-massage into your routine. These habits stimulate circulation, keep the skin responsive, and extend the benefits of each clinic session.

If you notice light bruising after your session, especially at the start of a cure, that’s normal. It’s a sign that circulation is being actively stimulated in areas that needed it. An arnica cream or a cold compress (10 minutes maximum, once or twice if needed) is enough to ease the discomfort. The body adapts progressively, and sessions become more comfortable over time.

How many sessions should you plan for?

Maderotherapy delivers better results as part of a cure than as isolated sessions. The frequency and number of sessions vary depending on each person’s goals and starting condition. Generally, we recommend a series of closer-together sessions at the start to build a solid foundation, followed by regular maintenance to sustain and improve results over time.

There’s no universal protocol. That’s why the Odysea team takes the time to assess your situation during your first consultation and build a plan that fits your real goals — not a generic package.
